Monica Torres, a pedestrian near the crime scene, recalled the horrific event stating, “I saw Birdman and his crew at the corner in traffic. I recognized Birdman because I saw him in a Breakfast Club interview posted on Twitter. I was waiting at the bus stop when two guys got out of a black Ford Explorer and ran up on their car with a gun. Someone in the car jumped out and tried to run but he was shot. I tried to hide inside the bodega and that’s when I saw Birdman getting hit in the head with a gun. I heard a few more shots and then the black Explorer pulled off. I came out the store and some other people were outside and we all heard Birdman yelling, “These n**gas don’t respect my name”.

Police and the EMT responded quickly to the scene to treat Birdman. According to one of the responding police officers at the scene, Birdman was found crying in the passenger seat of his vehicle in tears.

“I don’t get no respect. I came to bless New York with love and these n**gas don’t respect my name,”

said Birdman to authorities.
