Snapchat filters have brought endless hours of enjoyment and laughs to users. They created something that had not been done before by any other social media platform. You can see what you would look like with your friends face on yours, make yourself prettier, uglier, and funnier.
Unfortunately one of Snapchat’s recent filters had some horrible consequences. 18 year old Christal McGee has caused an accident that left the occupant of the other car, Wentworth Maynard with severe brain damage. She was using the speed filter on snapchat trying to get her car up to 100 miles per hour.
She had just finished her shift at work and was driving with a number of co-workers. She opened the speed filter which shows how fast you are going, phone in one hand driving with the other. A pregnant occupant in the car told her to slow down, and she replied ‘Just trying to get the car to 100 miles per hour to post it on Snapchat’
McGee sustained serious injuries, with the rest of her occupants coming out with only minor injuries. She snapped herself after the accident in the ambulance.
